My oldest son has hand picked the latest additions to our farm. He has chosen different varieties of baby chicks based off of the color of egg they will lay, and their demeanor in the coop! Right now we have them getting acclimated in the garage with a nice, toasty heat lamp. We will transfer them to our "urban" chicken coop until they start laying, and then transfer them to the farm where we will use their eggs in our teachings. June is the month we will expect the first egg. For us, it is important to handle the chicks daily and keep a watchful eye on them. We like to have very tame and "hold-able" chickens. I will keep you updated with new pictures as they grow.
